Want to make tofu at home in India? You are in the right place. In this article, I will share the easiest way to do it, and you will need only two ingredients which can be bought online or at your nearest supermarket. Let’s start:

The Easiest “2 Ingredient” Tofu

This method requires a pack of ready-to-use soy milk and the juice of a fresh lime. And before you start worrying about it, I will tell you where you can find ready-to-use soy milk. Perhaps you have already seen it in the featured image of this article.

"So Good" Unsweetened Soy Milk

You will need to buy a 1-liter tetra pack of “So Good” brand unsweetened, plant-based soy beverage. It is available online, at portals like Amazon, or app-based stores such as Big Basket, Zepto, and Blinkit, etc., and costs near about INR 130. The other ingredient you need is a fresh lime.

How To Make It

The recipe to make tofu from “So Good” unsweetened soy beverage is printed on the product packaging itself. I am repeating it here:

1. Heat So Good Unsweetened soy milk in a heavy-based saucepan until just boiling.

2. Turn off the heat and remove the saucepan from the stove.

3. Add the juice of one lime and stir gently.

4. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes, until separated.

5. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth to collect the tofu solids.

6. Squeeze the cheesecloth to remove excess liquid.

7. Tie the cheesecloth and place a weight on the mixture to squeeze out the remaining liquid.

8. Chill the tofu block in a refrigerator for one hour.

9. Your fresh tofu is ready for cooking.

See, how easy it is to make tofu using store bought soy milk! To get a better shaped tofu block, you may buy a stainless-steel square-shaped paneer mould from Amazon. A 400ml mould should cost under INR 400, and will last for many years.
