There is salt (Sodium) in instant noodles and in the seasoning or the tastemaker sachet that comes along in a packet of instant noodles. So, how much salt there is in a serving of instant noodles, and does anyone needs to be concerned about it.
Salt In Instant Noodles Sold In India
I have been buying instant noodles in India for several years now, and never paid any attention to the salt content in the masala mix that comes in those packs of noodles. Then I got curious and read the nutritional information. This is what I found:
891mg (44% of RDA)
In a 60g pack of Yippee brand instant noodles, the dry noodles and the seasoning sachet combined have 891mg of Sodium. According to the nutritional info printed on the pack of Yippee noodles, that would be roughly equal to 44% of the RDA (recommended daily allowance).
That is something. We eat a pack of instant noodles just as a snack, and end up consuming 44% of the salt we are supposed to consume in an entire day.
Yippee is a popular brand of instant noodles in India and the other two popular brands are Chings and Maggi. I wonder how much salt is there in those two brands.
I am sure now that you have read this article, you will read the nutritional information before you open your next pack of instant noodles.
